Eugene Area Schools Participating in 13th Annual Oregon Lottery® Scratch-itSM for Schools Event
At each of the statewide events, two adults from each of the schools are partnered with two other adults from local TV and radio stations, as well as newspapers, to form a four-person team. All four team members will scratch as many Scratch-it tickets as they can, fast and furiously, while a countdown clock speeds away. At the end of the time, all cash prizes teams uncover are the school’s to keep.
“Scratch-it for Schools is a great event,” said Lottery Director Dale Penn. “With the schools, local media, and communities working together for a common goal, Scratch-it for Schools is fun and very rewarding for everyone involved. This event provides the Lottery with another opportunity to contribute to Oregon’s schools.”
Last year, the 75 public schools from across the state who took part in the Oregon Lottery’s Scratch-it for Schools event won over $86,000. Since the Scratch-it for Schools program began, over $900,000 has been awarded to the participating public schools.
All Oregon public schools were invited to enter the drawing to select participating schools for each of the seven Scratch-it for Schools events around the state. In addition to the Eugene event, Scratch-it for Schools events will take place in Medford the morning of April 9 followed by Klamath Falls that afternoon, Portland on April 14, and April 15 in Pendleton. Previously, Scratch-it for Schools events were held in Salem on April 1 and Bend on April 6.
Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has funded over $3 billion for public education. In total, the Lottery has earned over $6 billion for public education, state parks, watershed enhancements and economic development combined.
